Jess & Joe's Wedding
When Jess contacted NGJ Makeup and Hair, outlining her plans for a classic but modern wedding, we jumped at the chance to be part of her and fiancé Joe’s big day.
For Jess and Joe there were such romantic beginnings to this relationship which stood the test of time and distance, we couldn’t help but be touched by the strength of the bond they hold. Jess and Joe met on Tinder in August 2014, whilst Jess was living in North Wales. As Jess was moving away to Copenhagen for a year the romance was paused before it even began. However, the connection between the two was so strong that they kept in contact, finally meeting in person in May 2015 when Jess was home with loved ones. Although Jess was soon moving on 12,000 miles away to New Zealand, Joe wasn't about to let go of his true love, determined to make the long-distance romance work. After 10 months of communicating through technology Jess moved back to Swansea in August 2016, which allowed the relationship to fully blossom. A year later they were engaged.
The wedding itself was a charming and elegant affair. Set in the dramatically beautiful setting of the Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel in Bridgend on a glorious summers day, Jess and her bridal party looked the part with their relaxed updos and soft pink dresses. Jess’s classic style, matched with her porcelain skin and long blonde hair were a makeup artist and hair stylists dream. Jess opted for a soft, natural and flawless makeup. We enhanced her natural beauty by focusing on glowing skin, working with her skin tone and using soft blush and lipstick to compliment her perfectly, adding the final touches with individual lashes and soft eye make up to bring out the blue in her eyes. Jess’s long hair was put up gracefully, showing off her shoulders in her beautiful Mori Lee dress.
The whole day was inspired by soft colours, lots of foliage and greenery and adding rose and copper to bring the look to life – also inspired by Jess’s rose gold Clogau engagement ring. Personal touches were delicately sewn into the whole day including their favourite Marvel films which influenced the wedding breakfast entrance song and wedding cake.
Jess and Joe's most special moment was stepping through their moongate as husband and wife, as Legend says that if newlyweds step through a moongate hand-in-hand, happiness will endure. The first dance was to My Girl by The Temptations. The newlyweds even added a touch of laughter by having a dance off to Billie Eilish Bad Guy.
Memories of fun, laughter and sunshine to hold in the heart forever.
